African Champs League updates

Morning, everyone!

Nigerian side Heartland beat Monomotapa of Zimbabwe 3-1 in Group B of the African Champions League on Sunday.

The win for Heartland leaves the group wide open as all the four clubs are tied with three points apiece.

But Heartland and Etoile du Sahel of Tunisia have the edge at top the group because of their better goal difference.

This comes after Etoile secured a crucial 2-1 win over visitors TP Mazembe of the DR Congo in Group B's other game on Saturday. Etoile and Mazembe have three points along with Zimbabwe's Monomotapa, who beat the Tunisians in the opening game.

Sudan’s Al Hilal confirmed their position among the favourites in this year’s ACL when they won their opening home game in Group A with a 1-0 triumph over Zesco United of Zambia.

The Sudanese moved to a total of four points from their opening two matches and a berth at the top of the standings.

For Zesco it was a second successive setback after they were held at home a fortnight ago in their opening tie in the group by Kano Pillars of Nigeria.

The Zambians were without the suspended Enock Sakala and later lost Nyambe Mulennga, who was stretchered off during the game.
