GPL: week 28 preview

The countdown to the final day of the Glo Premier League nears its end but the destination of the league title still remains unknown as the season into a crucial stage.

All sixteen clubs go into match-day-28 today without knowing what fates are with the exception of Sporting Mirren.

Mirren are the only side till date that knows their destiny for next season. A stint in the second tier of Ghana's league structure having been long relegated even before the season ends.

Leaders, Hearts of Oak, who last won a game in May when they beat Tema Youth at home on match-day-20 return to the Ohene Djan Stadium where they take on Chelsea.

But any more slip by the Phobians and the league title could go elsewhere, particularly to Kumasi where two sides from the region, Kotoko and King Faisal remain close on their heels with just two points separating them from the top.

There is serious pressure on coach Nii Noi Thompson to pull a win, having failed to guide the Phobians to victory since taking over from Kosta Papic.

Whiles the leader’s battle on, Asante Kotoko face a tricky tie at the Baba Yara Stadium where they take on Hasaacas.

The Porcupine Warriors need a win to keep their title hopes going while Hasaacas must avoid defeat to worsen their slim chances of moving out of the drop net.

King Faisal have a difficult game at the Sekondi Sports Stadium where they play Eleven Wise, who are just a point better than the third side from the bottom of the table.

At the Kpando Park, Gamba All Blacks, placed a spot just above the bottom side could see their hopes of survival blown as they meet Heart of Lions.

Arsenals, who have ensured that the Golden City Park maintains its unbeaten status in over two seasons, would welcome Kessben FC who are a point better that the third-placed team from bottom.

Sure bets for relegation Sporting Mirren would visit the Wa Park for the last time in the premier league as they play All Stars.
Liberty Professionals after their spirited 3-3 show over the weekend with Kotoko travel to play Real Tamale United at the Tamale Sports Stadium.
