Setanta Sports had come to be a force to reckon with in terms of sports news.
In Africa - and Ghana in particular - the channel is a refreshing alternative to the mediocrity we have to endure. And so it's death last Tuesday was as bad - though on a smaller scale - than Wacko Jacko's.
Still it was a painful loss and a concession that they just could not beat Rupert Murdoch's millions. The channel has only stopped operation in the UK.
As you know by now, the Irish broadcaster was the latest victim of the financial apocalypse. Setanta failed to honour the payments on their TV rights packages.
