GPL: week 23 results

UPDATE: the headline used to read 'GPL: week 22 results.' I've corrected it now.

With 21 points left to play for, the destination of the title remains unclear likewise the three sides expected to be relegated in the Glo Premier League.

The title race was once again thrown open as leaders Hearts of Oak suffered yet another defeat, this time to King Faisal.

Hearts were beaten 1-0 by a nine-man King Faisal side at the Baba Yara Stadium as the Phobians crumble under pressure with seven matches to end the season.

Kwaku Opoku's 9th minute goal condemned Hearts to a third successive defeat and have their lead cut to five points from an unassailable 14-point gap at the top of the standings.

Faisal who are six points adrift the leaders occupy their position on the standings.

As the leaders lost ground, Heart of Lions mounted the pressure as they compounded the hopes Sporting Mirren staying in the elite campaign, winning 2-1 at the Ohene Djan Stadium.

Daniel Bomfah returned All Stars to winning ways as he helped the Blues to a 1-0 victory over Tema Youth at the Wa Park.

Asante Kotoko’s winning run was halted at the Tamale Sports Stadium as a Kabiru Imoro equalizer for Real Tamale United denied them all three points after Alex Asamoah had put them in the lead.

Bechem Chelsea took all three points after beating Eleven Wise 1-0 win at the Coronation Park.

Liberty Professionals boosted their chances of avoiding the drop after beating Berekum Arsenals 4-2 at their favourite Carl Reindorf Park in Dansoman.

AshantiGold continued to climb out of the drop zone with a 2-1 win against Gamba All Blacks at the Len Clay Stadium.

Despite a 4-0 win at the Sekondi Sports Stadium against Kessben FC, Hasaacas still remain amongst the bottom three. A brace by Joseph Akowa was followed up with goals from Joseph Ato Bissah and David Anars.
